How To Keep A Spotless House For Dog Owners

Simple Ways for Dog Owners to Keep A Clean House

Dog owners totally understand my struggle for a clean house. With four or more furry feet challenging that task daily, I’m very familiar with doggie footprints across my comforter, hair and fur everywhere.

Just because you have a dog(s) does not mean that other people should know it the moment they walk through your front door.

And while having a dog (or pet of any kind) may add a little more time to your workload, we know that keeping a clean house with dogs is not impossible — it just requires some extra work.

Here are a few simple tips on how any cat owner can keep a clean house:

Vacuum Weekly.

Vacuum at least once a week using a vacuum cleaner with a high efficiency allergen filter (or hepa filter) to reduce dust and allergens, and capture most of the hair and cat dander. For even more effectiveness, vacuum a few times a week. You’ll also want to wipe down your baseboards each week as hair and dander will accumulate there too.

Always Have a Lint Roller Handy

Even vacuuming every week might not save you from hair floating though the air and sticking on your clothes and other items. Having a lint roller handy is important that way no pet hairs will leave the house on your clothes.

Protect Your Furniture.

You can cover your furniture with blankets, throws or pillows that can be washed frequently. These coverings serve as a barrier between your dog and the furniture keeping the dog smell out. If company comes over, you can quickly remove this barrier with little fear of your guest being covered in hair on their way home. Just be sure to wash those blankets, throws or pillow cases regularly.

Keep Stain Removers Close By

Even the most perfectly housebroken dog can have an issue when they have a stomach bug or ate something they should not have eaten. Keep a cleaner on hand that is designed to tackle pet odors and stains. It is important to address the stains as soon as you them! Use an enzymatic based cleaner for pets (such as our Urine and Odor Remover line of products) to eliminate the odor and remove any stains left behind!

Use Deodorizers to Help Protect with Every Day Odors.

As a result, routine deep carpet cleaning is necessary.  Our deep clean stain and odor remover has the strength of professional carpet cleaner products and will eliminate those every day traffic odors caused by your cat and other pets in the house.

Wash Your Dog's Feet

Being prepared to wash paws on days with inclement weather is one way to cut down on dirt and mud tracked in your home. Add a hook by the door to hold a towel for wiping paws. You can use a rimmed baking sheet to hold a half-inch of water outside the door. Then, place your dog’s feet in the water and dry them off!
